Trees on a mountain

Down to Earth

First things first: I made it to 10,074 steps today… Yay!

Second, it’s just weird out there. I took my mom to the store today and—after zigzagging through the aisles for what felt like hours—I realized that making “healthy food choices” will be MUCH harder than I anticipated. Why? Because there was NO food to choose from! Nothing good anyway. It may come down to take what you can get if people keep stockpiling their bunkers.

My mom has a cabinet that I call her Doomsday Cupboard. She says she likes to keep food in there because “she’s always worried that something may happen.” It’s a great concept, I’m just not sure how much nutrition we’ll get out of minute rice, baked beans, canned chili, and marshmallows. I’m glad we have our garden!

It’s nice to open my reader and see that it’s business as usual around here. To a certain degree anyway.

So… I’m going to do a new series. School is slow right now (that old WordPress class is a little too easy!) and I’m afraid there’s not much to talk about on the lifestyle changes at the moment (Yawn). I WILL be doing more Food Fun Facts, but I’m going to wait a couple of weeks for things to settle down out there.

Anyway, since Everything Red was so much fun, I decided to stick with the color theme. This new series is called….. drumroll, maestro…….

Going Green.

According to color psychology, green is the color of growth, the color of spring, of renewal and rebirth. Green renews and restores depleted energy. So today’s green is a slightly modified photograph of a beautiful mountain top I visited in Colorado. In times like these, there is nothing more rejuvenating than being back to nature, and down to earth.

So take a deep breath… and relax.

Check out my other series!

Garden Art

As always, thank you for reading!

Flowering Plum

Spring is in the air…

Tiny blossoms are springing forth on the flowering plum tree. You have to look hard to find them, but they’re there. I think I’m wrapping up the Garden Art series with this one. It’s time to move on!

Speaking of things in the air… do you ever feel like a fraud? I don’t mean “fraudulent” as in committing dastardly crimes, I mean that strange sensation that you’re not who you think you are.

I’ve been in that kind of a funk lately. I think I’m going to journal my way through it. Not in one night. This baby might take a while. I can’t figure out if it’s that inner critic that I should ignore (the one that always tries to sabotage me) or if it’s that still small voice that I need to heed.

Honestly, I think a lot of it has to do with the two new jobs I just started. They are jobs that I took because they allow very minimal hours, but I have to say that they’re SO not me. Maybe going so far out of my comfort zone is what’s causing this fraud alert thing.

I mean, not only am I doing something that I’ve NEVER done before, I’m doing something that I don’t really care to do. It’s strictly for cash. And no it’s nothing illegal. 😉

I feel so strange when I go to work… like I should be looking over my shoulder to make sure no one I know sees me! Ha! Is that weird?? I don’t know. Now that I’m thinking this out loud, I think I’ll have to finish these thoughts later. It’s after midnight here and my mind is finished.

Has anyone else ever felt this way before?

Anyway, I know these thoughts have very little to do with the featured image, but then again… maybe they have everything to do with it. Spring is in the air! Time for cleaning—to get rid of useless crap. New things are waiting to be born—ready to flourish. That sounds like the perfect time!

If it doesn’t nourish your soul, get rid of it.

Thanks for reading!

I’ll be back to finish my thoughts later.

Peace & Love!!

Nature’s Collage

Well, I had a great time visiting my sister! Not quite the photo ops I had anticipated, but hanging out with her was the real treat, so I’m not complaining! I was asked to be on a panel Tuesday night—at a recovery center—and I’m really looking forward to that. If it wasn’t for the commitment, I would have stayed in Riverside a little longer… but it’s nice to be home.

I shot this today; the loquat tree as a backdrop to the pansy redbud. Just something to do. Today is my first day back and the backyard has changed quite a bit in a week! Anyway… Spring is such a great time for change. Cleaning, reorganizing, new activities, getting rid of things, and fresh starts. Every day!

Peace and Love to you!
