Well… it’s been just over a year since my last alphabet series, so I’m going for it once again. Part of the fun of this series is that it sets me up for not only inspiration, but a task list – an “agenda” of sorts (another ‘A’ word).

First, I have to search for a word that inspires me. Second, I have to think of an illustration that represents my word. Lastly, I need to actually say something about the word. It kind of forces me to write – which is good.

One thing that comes to mind when I think of the word aromatic is coffee. At first I thought of a woman smelling her cup… but then I decided that she needed to immerse herself in the aroma.

So, I suppose you could say that this crazy, weird illustration is how I feel when I have my first cup every morning.

Sometimes I wake up too early and I know I could still sleep, but if I know the coffee is brewing – or I smell that aroma – I’ll get up just to grab a cup. Occasionally I’ll consider going back to bed after I finish, but as we all know… caffeine does NOT put you to sleep.

But the point here is that immersing yourself in that aroma is like a form of mindfulness. When that liquid hits the mug, nothing else matters. You’re in the zone. If everything that follows that morning ritual is appreciated and valued just as much… I’d say that the day is a success.

That about wraps it up. The letter ‘A’ is complete, and I’m off to explore ‘B’ words.
