Powerhouse

Never apologize for being a strong woman.

Hopefully I’m not overdoing the shadow effects… but this particular image seemed better with than without. I may revisit that idea later when this one comes around for a revamp.

Speaking of “vamps,” a category I really got into before was kind of a take on femme fatales… mysterious, alluring, and seductive women who use their charm to ensnare or manipulate others (mainly men?).

That’s Google’s definition anyway. Natasha Fatale from the Rocky and Bullwinkle series is one example, and apparently, their manipulative ways often lead to their downfall or ruin (also according to Google).

The Femme Fatale collection is one that I’d love to continue with, but I’m adding a new category for women who are powerful in their own right… and who aren’t out to manipulate anyone.

I know, I know, they’re only cartoon-like characters, but humor me here. I remember one of my graphic design instructors was pretty firm while telling us not to sexualize or objectify women in our designs.

I have difficulty determining where the boundary is between her unsolicited rule and my own ideas of what women in illustrations should look like… or what’s simply more fun to create!

But… I decided that my females should have more variety so that more of them are represented (this is why I am not into politics!). I also have some men I’d like to use, so let it be known that I do not discriminate.

I think that once I get myself organized these various categories or collections will begin to reveal themselves more and more… and they may even start to connect.

Anyway, I don’t have much else to share right now. It hasn’t even been twenty-four hours since my last post and there is most certainly no new news.

I just wanted to share my latest, and get the ball rolling on this new female category I’ve invented. I’m calling it Fearless Females.

Thank you for viewing or reading, or both… I hope you enjoyed!

Those old Soviet propaganda posters of the 1920s and 1930s have come a long way.

From the strong proletarian woman of Soviet Russia to the strong unmanipulative femme fatale shadow effects woman of today’s 2020s blogs.
