The path is twisted,
But there’s a cross, in the light,
Guiding my footsteps.
And an update for the road—
My summer break is coming to an end. School starts Monday, and my bag is already packed. It’s been an interesting season, and I’m glad I took the time to refresh and recharge.
I started organizing posts recently, updating some of my categories, and I realized something. Stories about my faith have dwindled. I guess a blog is a bit like life; like people. We wander. I’ve been a wanderer since the day I could crawl—both figuratively, and literally.
I love to travel, to explore, and to learn new things. Maybe that’s why I love being a student. Every day I learn something new, discover new things, and meet new people.
So, where am I in my faith? There’s a quote I found about a year ago, by D.L. Moody, and it really struck me.
“A holy life will make the deepest impression. Lighthouses blow no horns, they just shine.”
I’ve emphasized the second sentence for a reason. I try to live by that sentence. In some ways, that’s a good thing. Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words. I believe that with my whole heart. What I’ve realized though, is that I end up trying to generate my own light (Hey… why’s it so dark in here?). 🙂
I want to do things MY way. I’m not saying that I totally ignore the first half of that quote. I try to say the right things; I try to do the right things. But, the fact of the matter is… I can’t. Wait. Let me rephrase that.
I can’t do it alone.
Every wonderfully awesome thing that’s happened in my life was from Him, not me. But still, I pick up that pen and try to write the final chapters—I try to force the ending. Don’t we all? Human nature is… well… human nature. It’s in our DNA.
The bottom line is that I’m not sure where He’s taking me. I have dreams, goals, and plans, and… God willing, I will see them all through to fruition.
I work hard, study hard, live a quiet life, and always do my best. But, I can’t write those final chapters. Not yet. Do I have enough faith to believe that they’ll be as magnificent as the first?
Absolutely.
