Or… What’s in a shoe??
My post tonight has a couple of meanings. First and foremost… and the most random, of course… is the idea that when a woman can no longer seem to find joy or inspiration in her life, sometimes she just needs to go shoe shopping.
I saw an image of a boot filled with flowers and started thinking of all of the things that could be housed in a shoe. If that doesn’t get the old imagination stirring I don’t know what will. The possibilities are endless! Hence, the idea of ‘what’s in a shoe?’ was born.
I’m not going to go off and say that this is the start of a new series (because that would surely lead to my next vanishing act!), so I’ll settle for this one and see what the future brings. But there ARE a lot of things that could fit into a shoe!
I bought some vintage handwriting overlays that can be used in Illustrator so I’ve tried one out in my design. In this particular scene, I thought it looked like an old love letter… which brings me to my post’s next meaning.
It’s been awhile since I’ve shared anything, and the love letters theme got me thinking about those of you who read my posts, so I thought that this post could also serve as my love letter to you.
If I can make one commitment this year (and commitment is a HARD ask for me, hahaha) it would be a promise to myself (and you) to spend more time making new connections here, and fostering those that I’ve already made during my (nearly) 10 years on WP (which also reminds me that today/tomorrow is my 10 YEAR SOBER ANNIVERSARY!)
Anyway, sometimes I think about the difficulties I have finding or coming up with content ideas and I’ve realized that if my shares aren’t helping me connect with the people that read or view them… what’s the point?
I can post pictures until the cows come home, but any real satisfaction comes from making connections and conversing with other bloggers (another hard ask for an introverted commitment phobe, hahaha). The truth is, comfortable or not, human connection is where it’s at.
Especially now.
There’s a lot of crap going on today, from close to home to far, far away, and if there’s anything at all that the world needs right now… it is love (and God, of course, but isn’t He love?).
So, my image was done in Illustrator and then taken elsewhere for the watercolor look. Usually, I don’t care for the lack of line definition in the app generated watercolor effects… but I think that in this case it pairs beautifully with the ‘vintage letter’ feel.
I guess that’s about it for now. I really do want to add to my shoe collection, so maybe I’ll be back with another one soon. Or not. We’ll see.
Until next time…
Love always,
