Be Adventurous

I think my declaration about the new “Be …” series (AKA “The Relentless Pursuit of Positivity”) gave me a spook.

Why do I always try to pigeonhole myself? Just share the damn image (or even a short story) and be done with it! You don’t need to commit to an entire series! All that does is add unnecessary pressure…

That’s something that I might say to myself.

Things were actually going well, but once I got going on this particular illustration I got bored and walked away. I haven’t thought about it since!

But life has changed a little, and I wanted to revisit it – so I could start a new chapter in my blogging life. Anyway, I looked up “adventurous” – to get a little inspiration – and something clicked.

Being adventurous doesn’t just mean that you are open to trying new or difficult things that are exciting or dangerous (like dangling from the tail of a ring-tailed lemur??) – it can also mean that you are willing to go where you have never been, or do things you have never done, even if you don’t know how it’s going to turn out.

I think it’s that not knowing how it’s going to turn out that I have trouble with. At this stage of my life, pretty much everything is different than it was for the majority of my former life. It’s a little weird.

The old job is over. The kids are on their own (well, 2 out of 3 anyway), and the stress of paying overwhelming bills is pretty much gone because we are now a multi-generational household (going slightly collectivist here). Oh, and the ‘drink’ is gone.

So, basically, life is actually EASIER than it ever was. But I’m still not sure how it’s going to turn out. The rat race is over, but I still tend to act like that hamster on a wheel.

Running, running, running… trying to plan something… or commit to something… or just DO something. Hence, the pursuit of a long-lasting blog series began, and each time – rather than feeling more “dialed in” to my future – I feel less.

If you follow me and read me, I know this kind of self-talk might seem redundant, but I’m so glad that I stumbled on this little discovery because it helps me understand a little more about what it is I’m always searching for…

A “knowable” future.

How boring that would be! So, in my relentless pursuit of positivity, I’m going to embrace the unknown and keep going… I’m going to do things that are unexpected. I’m going to keep myself guessing (and you, as well). I’m going to be adventurous!

(But you’ll probably never find me dangling from the tail of a ring-tailed lemur.)

I guess that’s all for now! Thanks for looking or reading… I hope you found something enjoyable (and positive) here!

The text reflects an honest reflection on change and the need to let go of control. The author acknowledges his tendency to plan everything, but decides to embrace the unknown and live with a more adventurous and positive attitude. It’s a message about accepting uncertainty with humor, gratitude, and an open mind toward new chapters.

..I was going to ask if the cover image was inspired by real life events😄🤭 Ah c’est la vie… On a pervy-er note I like the way you animated her ass cheeks. Subtle but important and captivating detail🙃

Hahaha! Interesting that you noticed! 🤣😂 I used a real life photograph as a reference for the woman… minus the lemur obviously, and that particular detail stood out. 😳
