“In a world addicted to speed, I blur the moments into one unholy smear.” -Ann Voskamp
Par for the course, I’m sharing this before it’s really ready. Or before I’m ready. I don’t have a ton to say on the matter, so it will be brief.
I mentioned the other day that speed is a problem for me. I want to do everything fast.
It’s not like I have too much to do. It’s a residual thing… left over from being a working single mom with three boys, all two years apart. And then we moved farther away from my workplace, so traffic became the evil culprit.
It’s been AGES since the days I’m referring to, yet sometimes I can still feel father time breathing down my neck screaming, “I need this yesterday!”
I actually wanted to rush this one just to get the idea off my chest, or out of my head, so that I can work on other creations (and hopefully the end of my latest story).
I thought it would be fun to illustrate rushing, or speed, because the image could say it better. Notice the scenery? No? Exactly. Sometimes, when I look back at parts of my life (or even parts of yesterday!)… that is what I see. Nothing but a big blur.
Breath in. Breath out. Repeat. That’s what I have to say about that. I’m going to challenge myself to slow down… but I won’t be reporting my progress on the blog because that’s never a good idea (with me).
On another note. I caved today and resubscribed to the Adobe plan with Photoshop. That’s how I was able to do the blurs and fades on tonight’s illustration. The girl and scooter were created in Illustrator, then I moved them to Photoshop and used a real image (with motion blur added) for the background. Fun!!
If you look closely, the female rider has a very zen look on her face. And notice the cool translucent scarves? I’m a little worried. It almost looks like she’s meditating… or doing some kind of mindful yoga… and she might even have her eyes closed! I sure hope that’s a self-driving scooter!
That’s about all for tonight.
Thank you so much for viewing or reading, I hope you enjoyed!
Peace & love.
