This whole thing started with the color purple.
So… first I have to say that one of the reasons I wanted to look into purple is because the name of the color has been used quite a lot.
First and foremost there was the rock band Deep Purple. Oddly enough, Purple Rain, Purple Haze, and Purple People Eater were both songs and movies, so those kind of count as double. Then, of course, there were the movies The Color Purple and Harold and the Purple Crayon.
That’s a lot of purples!
There were no “extremely fascinating” facts about the color, but I liked the Fun Fact that purple is often associated with creativity, mystery, and imagination.
Another Fun Fact that caught my attention was the fact that Porphyrophobia refers to “an extreme fear of the color purple.”
That was actually my favorite because… truth be told… I don’t really care for the color purple. Ha! Fortunately I’m not terrified of the color… I just don’t enjoy looking at it and I’m pretty sure I have no purple clothes (God help me if I do!).
So… originally my image was going to be a play on words. Rather than the old Purple People Eater, I was going to make shapes that were Purple Eaters. That way the other colors could dominate… and rid us of the purples.
Then another image I found inspired me to do something that looked like an assembly line… where purple balls were being painted over, into new colors. I never quite made it to that, but it was close.
Once I started with the splatters, I had to go with “Paintballs” because it looks a lot more like that than any of my other ideas. I created it in Illustrator and used one of my new programs to tilt and distort the whole scene and then add a ‘comic book’ effect that really made the colors pop. POW!
If I was to do the whole thing over, I think I’d make some of the balls flying in mid air, and maybe one or two splatting, and then I’d add that word POW in some kind of comic book font. I don’t know. Maybe I’ll revisit it some day.
It’s actually a fun image if you like bright colors. I do like it myself because the purple is there, which works for this Fun Fact, but the other colors play with the purple and kind of keep it from stealing the show.
Anyway, I think that’s all for now. My previous post was awfully wordy… so I’m all talked out tonight. Feeling good.
So thanks for reading or viewing!! I hope you enjoyed something here.
And I almost forgot. Absolutely nothing came to mind for my next Fun Fact, so I may be back for something different next time. We’ll see.
Until then,
Peace & Love!
