“Don’t worry if Plan A fails. There are 25 more letters in the alphabet.“
I found that saying while looking for quotes about today’s word… Whimsical. It was a great reminder of why I love Blogging through the Alphabet – you get 26 shots!
Whimsical things are often charming, amusing, and imaginative, sometimes even bordering on the absurd, and whimsical people are often playful and childlike.
Spontaneousness comes to mind, because it’s about acting on a whim rather than carefully planning. Thinking about that actually made my day, because I’m terrible at following through with (creative) plans, but spontaneity makes me pretty happy (except for those that end in disaster!).
It made me wonder if my feelings about being tired of things has to do with my failed efforts to make some kind of “plan.” That makes sense, as I enjoyed doing this illustration because it was random and spontaneous.
Anyway, I think that being whimsical requires an imagination… like this girl obviously has. Is there really a bird on her head, or is she imagining that?
I believe that’s homework she’s supposed to be reading, but she’s made a hole in it instead, so she can play peek-a-boo. That’s pretty whimsical. And I’m guessing she’s still in bed because she plans on playing hooky today (boy, that’s starting to sound a little like me now).
As for my illustration, I wanted to refrain from the effects programs because they drive me crazy after a while… too many decisions to make… so it’s coming to you au naturel. What you see is what you get.
I think that’s about all for now. The next few posts are going to take some thought because it’s hard to imagine X, Y, and Z. I can’t believe it’s almost over…
Until next time,
Peace & Love!
“Let your old age be childlike, and your childhood like old age; that is, so that neither may your wisdom be with pride, nor your humility without wisdom.” -Saint Augustine
