Tantrum

-Also Known as Throwing a Wobbly-

I did a complete 180 on this one.

Initially, I was going to do an illustration of a Treasure Chest. My chosen ‘T’ word at the time was Thesaurus. It was a happy idea.

The chest was full of words and jewels (which I may use later)… and my spiel was about how fun it is to look up synonyms. Well, change of plans.

I think I’m just tired of everything. I’m not trying to be a downer when I say that – so please don’t think I’m whining or having a pity party here.

When I say I’m tired of everything, I just mean that the things I’ve always enjoyed are suddenly not as pleasing as they used to be. It’s like I go through the motions… but the passion is gone (sounds like the end of a sad love affair).

I’ve gotten rid of Photoshop so my editing capabilities are much more limited. So… I watched a tutorial on creating some cute (and simple) flowers in Illustrator, and the simplest task turned out to be FRUSTRATING. I hate it when they use a video in fast motion and no words. Pointless.

Anyway, I ended up downloading and installing GIMP 3.0 (free art/editing software) and a free plug-in for it called G’MIC. I’ve got plenty to keep me busy now because it’s kind of like giving a 2 year old a permanent marker… yikes!

I started playing – and made a mess of my supposed-to-be-simple flowers – and I not only feel better… I actually love the end result. I decided to name it Tantrum, so my ‘T’ word was officially changed.

The definition of tantrum is basic – and emotional outburst is what stuck with me. I think my image kind of shows that. What started out as three friendly (and quite proper) flowers became a messy, chaotic scene – kind of like the inside of Walmart or Target on Black Friday.

I also discovered that “throwing a wobbly” is the British expression that is used, usually when an adult throws a tantrum, so that made me giggle. My image seems a bit wobbly as well, so that is also fitting.

Anyway… that’s about all. But, I still wanted to give a shout out to Thesaurus (the runner up) so I found some synonyms for tantrum:

Huff, outburst, scene, explosion, reaction, fit, fireworks, frenzy, rage, bad mood, blowup, hissy fit, shit fit, and finally… a word that I’ve just learned… paroxysm (a sudden attack or violent expression of a particular emotion or activity).

Thank you for reading / viewing! I hope you enjoyed something here! See U soon for the letter ‘U’.

Peace & Love!
(and if all else fails… scribble, finger paint, or color outside of the lines… it’ll make you feel better!)
