Friends

“In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things, does the heart find its morning and is refreshed.”
― Khalil Gibran, The Prophet

Last week, I took a day off from doing ‘pretty much nothing’ at home and went to the beach with two friends that I haven’t seen in a long time.

The year 2020, along with its stay at home orders, entrenched in me this tendency to hermitize myself. Oh, I had it before, but never this bad.

As Gibran put it, the laughter and the sharing of pleasures was like my heart found it’s morning… and I came home tremendously refreshed.

Thankfully, I also slathered myself in sunscreen. No burn here! Anyway, it was like a breath of fresh air, and a much needed break from the 105 degree weather that we had at home.

Also, unlike Selfie Sophia, I am an anti-selfiest. If I were twenty years younger (and f*&$# pounds lighter) things might be different, but it is what it is, and my pics consisted of the scenes that surrounded me.

I chose this one, as I actually took it because of the birds. This morning, however, I noticed that the people in the background were grouped together in pairs or in threes, and I instantly thought that it was a perfect depiction of friends.

I have so many beach pictures that I wanted to make it seem different, so I bleached out the color a little to give it a vintage feel, and added an oil paint effect (as always) to make it look less real and less photo-like.

Regardless, have you ever noticed that it’s difficult to find an unhappy person at the beach? I don’t know… I just love the way that everyone – including the birds – look so content.

I guess that’s all for now. Hope you enjoyed!

Until next time,
Peace & love.
