a gentle calm

I wanted to try my hand at some more minimalistic scenes. It’s a far cry from what I had originally planned, which is an illustration of a woman yelling – which I was going to call “Crying Wolf.”

It’s a long story, but long story short: I caved and changed my Adobe plan back to the original so that I could have my Illustrator back.

Was there a lesson learned? Well, for one, I would never be a good boycotter! Sorry, but if it’s something I love – there better be a REALLY good reason to give it up. Ten to twelve dollars a month is not a reason at all really. Not today.

So, I did this one in Illustrator and then did the birds and fog in Photoshop. I thought it turned out pretty good, but I do see a little problem with the gradient. Not enough time spent trying to perfect it, as usual.

I tried a blue tint as well…

I thought I liked it better until I put them next to each other. Now I’m not sure. Maybe blue is less minimalistic because of the hue? I don’t know.

Anyway, I may share the ‘woman yelling’ illustration at a later date. I’ve been thinking about a story, a mystery of some sort, and I think she may be a good character for it. We’ll see.

I think that’s all for now. I just wanted to share the news that I’ve changed my mind again and now it’s “back to the drawing board.” Ha-Ha!

Until next time,
Peace & Love!

You know both of those pictures look like prints that could have been done by the great early 19th Century Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai.

It’s a lovely picture. I think your minimalist pictures and the ones you create in illustrator that have the stained glass effect and the ones that accompany the short stories are probably my favourites, but everything you’ve created is very good!

I’ve come to the same conclusion as you about Adobe… it’s just too convenient, and using other software as an alternative is either more time consuming or more limiting.
Ah well, it was worth a try!

Thank you Stuart! And thanks for the reminder about the stained glass effect- I haven’t tried that in a while so maybe that’s next. 🤣
