In the Garden

As you can see, I’m not quite done with the long narrow images. I liked the idea of having to scroll down the image to see the entire piece, and so I thought it would be fun to have a bit of a surprise at the bottom.

In this case, I guess it’s the shoes. Ha-Ha! I was hoping that the legs might look a bit like tree trunks, fooling the eye into thinking it’s a jungle scene – until you get down to the big reveal.

It isn’t as dramatic as I’d intended but that’s because I was in a hurry. Now that I have more free time, I’m suddenly finding that some things start to bore me. Weird, huh?

The good news here is that I’m going for a new mindset, “Anything & Everything is A-OK.” I figure if I want to spend lots of time on an illustration, then fine, but if I don’t, then so be it.

Anyway, I got the idea while looking over a book that I’ve had for a very long time; 50 Things to do when you Turn 50. I know, I know… it’s a little late, but if 60 is the new 40 then I’m almost ten years early!

The idea came in reading To Do #24: Stay Curious, Be Relevant, and THRIVE. When I see the word thrive, I always think of a beautiful garden… so that’s when I envisioned the garden legs. The legs and shoes are new, but the flowers are recycled. I’m going green, as they say!

Don’t hold me to it, but I think I might use this book for some more ideas. It’s fun to get inspiration in unexpected places, and this seems like the perfect place. So… I hope to be back soon with another long and narrow reveal… maybe something mysterious.

Until then,
Peace & Love!
