The Seed Tree

“A harvest of peace is produced from a seed of contentment.”

A Proverb

I think I’m changing my word for this year. If you remember, the word that I originally chose was patience.

While I still need more patience, my latest obsession with minimalistic images (and quotes) is creating within me the desire for more peace and contentment.

I’m just guessing, but it’s probably safe to say that you can’t have peace and contentment and have no patience at the same time. That just wouldn’t make sense.

I started my weaving class last night and let me tell you something… you NEED patience if you want to weave. Ha-Ha! It is awesome though!

My first project will be a scarf and I hope to share a picture of it when I’m done. Please be aware that – until last night – I had never even SEEN a loom let alone touched one, so the end result should be interesting.

Anyway, I wanted to do another illustration and I was toying with the idea of a sepia tone. Then I saw a photograph that had the sepia-like tone and a light turquoise-blue in it, and I was sold.

I made the basic illustration first, in Illustrator, added the tree leaves and clouds in Photoshop (fun brushes!), and then used the oil paint effect to give the leaves a swirly painted look. After that, I took it to BeCasso – but only to add a brown paper background.

It may have lost some of the ‘minimalism’ of it when I got so busy with it, but it was cool to experiment nonetheless. Now that I’m seeing it on the screen, I think a few pink flowers on the tree could have added a little something – maybe I’ll do that in one of my remakes.

Speaking of remakes, I started writing a story. It’s a remake of a remake, and I will not post it until it is done. Par for the course, when I thought about sitting down to write I opened Illustrator instead – so there you have it.

That’s about all for now. Thanks for reading… or viewing, I hope you enjoyed!

Peace & Love!
