With color one obtains an energy that seems to stem from witchcraft.
Henri Matisse

Don’t quote me on ‘the author’ of that quote, but the internet consensus said it was Matisse, so that’s what I’m going with.
I actually found it when I was looking for something catchy to say about my last image, with the colorful blowout. It didn’t seem like a good fit, but I thought, “hey, this sounds like inspiration for a new illustration!”
Again, I’m probably just looking for distractions because I should be reading, but it’s been a fun nonetheless. I’m kind of kidding actually… I have been reading my textbook on IFS and it’s super interesting. I just read slow so I can soak it all in.
I started working on the next section of The Voice in My Head, too! I think it’s a good story idea that can have a lot of action and some meaning as well, but I’m also realizing that writing on the blog – in tiny little sections – makes for a bare bones story.
I’ve decided that if I ever get serious, which I hope to do, I’ll have to keep the story to myself until it really is finished. In the meantime, I’ll just enjoy exercising my writing mind.
Anyway… I made the image in Illustrator and then moved it to Photoshop to add a little smoke and magic. I enjoyed working on it!
Last but not least… I bought a movie on Amazon Prime: Loving Vincent, the world’s first fully painted feature film. I have not finished it yet (another thing I am doing slow so it will soak in), but it is the coolest thing ever.
Just the work that went into it makes it amazing (it took 6 years), but I also like Chris O’Dowd and he not only does the voiceover for one of the characters, but you can see his expressions in the character.
The movie is actually an animation of hand painted paintings – 65,000 frames! I’d love to watch it on a super large screen, but for now my desktop screen will have to do.
Anyway, I thought I’d recommend it to anyone who hasn’t heard of it or watched it.
That’s about all for now. Thanks for reading or checking out my illustration! I hope you enjoyed!
