Don’t blame me. My alter ego made me do it.
I’m not really sure where it came from, but I had my first story idea the other night. My first one for 2024! All I can say is an alter ego is involved. Maybe two. That’s it. No spoiler alerts here!
My thoughts about alter egos led me to the illustration, so I wanted to finish it first – and then start my story. I’m really happy with it. Of course, I see things I could do if I wanted to work on it for another few days, weeks, or months, but that isn’t happening. Not today.
The middle face was a project I started in December 2023 (a portrait of Marilyn Monroe if it’s not recognizable), and the point where I stopped left me with a face that looked like a mask.
I figured “what the heck… it’s the perfect starting place for my representation of a multi-faced personality.”
I planned to talk a little about personas and alter egos this evening, but I’ve decided to keep it short. And this is probably TMI, but I’ve also decided to start a page on my blog that has an ongoing list of all of my ideas and/or things I want to share or talk about this year. Once I’ve completed the task, I’ll add the post- or a link to it. Like I’m checking off a to-do list.
It’s like my own little reminder notebook (WHICH I NEED, BY THE WAY), but it also gives readers an opportunity to see where I’m at with my ideas, stories, and projects. Now, I need to write that down so I remember to do my reminders!
The biggest lie I tell myself is ‘I don’t need to write that down, I’ll remember it!’
I won’t be posting the (short) story until it’s finished, so it’s likely I’ll share my thoughts about personas or alter egos in the interim. I’ve got plenty to say!
Until then, I hope that you enjoyed my art… which is a little preview of what’s to come… hahaha.
Thank you for reading!
Peace & Love,
-Janet
