Rain Dance

You are a melody,
A soft pitter patter,
A gentle good night,
Causing dark thoughts to scatter.
You are a symphony,
A marching band’s cry,
Snare drums & symbols,
A parade marching by!
A flash upon high,
Bass drums echoing low,
Earth praises your gift,
Rivers once again flow.
From foggy panes,
I watch you perform,
Our spirits connect,
You are my perfect storm.

—Endless Rivers—

The “R” word was such a breeze. I LOVE Rain. With a passion!

When I was young, I had a lot of stuffed animals. I’d bring them to bed with me at night. If I had trouble sleeping I’d pretend there was a storm outside, and that I needed to protect them. I would call roll to make sure no one was missing, and then I’d tell them not to worry—they’d be safe with me under the covers. That little game made me feel so cozy inside.

Believe it or not, I think about that game whenever it rains at night and I feel that warmth all over again. The child inside never dies!

Anyway, thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed “R,” and I’ll see you soon for “S.”

I made an executive decision this morning. Rather than fretting over my featured images I’ll be recycling old forgotten ones. This “Bird in the Rain” is from 2017. I hope it makes you feel cozy inside!

Peace & Love!
—Janet

Oh my gosh!! So nice to hear from you Elizabeth! I am. Transferring to a University right now so it’s all been a little stressful but very exciting. I checked to see what you were up to some time ago but all was quiet on your sites. Right there with you… sometimes I blog… sometimes I don’t lol. How are you??

I’m great! Last year was brutal and scary but it jettisoned me toward releasing some old crap I was dragging through life. So- in the end the old saying proved very true: what doesn’t kill ya’ makes ya’ stronger.😉 There were times I wasn’t sure I was going to make it though and residuals are still there…. healing is never a straight line but I am on the upside, better and stronger on every level. And I didn’t even think about drinking through it! Miracle of miracles! 31 months sober and free and loving every minute of clarity. Most times anyway. 😂 Transferring to a University must be thrilling! What is your major? Art and Lit? Not being the formal student type myself, I have great admiration for you. ❤

Aww actually it’s Psychology. I love figuring out why we do what we do… or trying at least. What keeps nudging me is theology. That may be next on the agenda. So glad you are recovering and learning to thrive. I’m right there with you sister. Life is good and God is great!

Yes He is! Well that doesn’t surprise me a bit! Great combo. I had to go outside our broken mental health system because the psych people could only address the brain–or behavior. Godspeak was woo-woo to them. I’m actually working with an amazing woman who does a form of energy work combined with talk therapy, although it’s not really therapy as we think of it. Whatever it is, I had Raynaud’s Syndrome for 30 years and it is gone too! After the first visit. Healing needs to be addressed on every level- mind, body and soul.

Wow that amazing woman sounds amazing! Lol. How wonderful! And I agree about the lack of integration hence my desire to go in that direction. I felt that Psychology seemed to be missing a whole other dimension and after taking classes that thought is confirmed. But I do see that as time has gone on, the newest discoveries about the brain/mind seem to be taking the field in a better direction. Actually cognitive psychology was one of my favorite classes so far. Anyway so happy for you. I have to remember that phrase “Godspeak was woo-woo” haha too funny. I need to use that sometime. 😘

I never thought of watching the rain as a performance. In the future I will think of each rain as an act in a great performance. Thanks for the post and the wonderful picture.
