I went back to my notes, to see what categories I wanted to remember this year (for images and stories), and Femme Fatale came up again. I love that category.
Something I’ve noticed, besides the fact that cigarettes are popular among these seductresses, is that their lips are usually bold… and often pouty.
The majority of my female illustrations seem to include these types of lips as well. And if you browse through selfies on either Facebook or Insta, you’ll find that pouts are quite common there, too! Why?!
It’s that “I’m almost going to kiss you,” look. “Almost.”
In the case of this evening’s femme fatale, however, I don’t think she’s hinting at a smooch. She’s showing fearlessness, and she’s issuing a challenge… “I dare you.”
I know that’s a lot of random chatter, but it’s what came to mind when I was getting ready to share her. I’ve been out of ideas and inspiration (plus I’m in the middle of a class), and she’s been half done for weeks, so I thought I’d finish her up and move on.
But all of this talk made me think of something. I’d like to do more smiles and laughs – maybe show some teeth – so I’m challenging myself to create something different… an incredibly happy human.
I think my sense of humor has been on hiatus as well, and it’s time to get her moving again. So… I’ll be back when I’ve accomplished this! Please don’t hold your breath! (kidding)
I’m happy that I was able to ramble here tonight, because I’ve (finally!) been inspired. I look forward to this new challenge!
