Good Morning Sunshine

“There is no such thing in anyone’s life as an unimportant day.” -Alexander Woollcott

I went through a big chunk of my iPhone photos this morning. Wow. Talk about a rabbit hole. Have you ever done that?

Well, I’m a screenshot addict – I have recipes, receipts, art that I found, friends, family, landscapes – and those are just examples.

I deleted a LOT of old and useless stuff, and… I don’t know why… but that always feels so good.

It’s like I’m purging chaos and confusion from my life. In a metaphorical way, but still – it makes me feel like there’s now room for more.

So… I decided to take a little break from illustrations and see what I could do with some old photographs I found.

This random stranger just happened to be in my view and I’ve always loved his posture. It gives you the impression that he is pausing, and just taking it all in.

When I look at it, I take a deep breath and clear the clutter from my mind. Kind of like my iPhone photos.

Besides being a screenshot addict, I’m also an oil paint effects addict (haha!). So I’ve added those to this image, along with some color adjustments and the vignette to add softness to the mood.

I removed clutter here as well, a plane… and quite a few little boats that were clogging up the horizon. If you got ’em, flaunt ’em (Photoshop tools, that is).

I’ll probably never be a die hard “keep it like you shot it” kind of person. Not for now, but never say never.

Anyway, I thought the image was a great “good morning” shot (even though it’s after noon here already). So, Good Morning Sunshine!

Enjoy your day!
