The Chill

“In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy.” -William Blake

It’s not really cold like this where I live, but the old house we reside in begs to differ. My fingers are frozen.

This isn’t really about the cold though. I was inspired by a photograph I saw, of a tree, and this was the final outcome.

When I first saw the photo, it seemed like it depicted simplicity. But, then the branches reminded me of neurons, and I decided that it might be a fun representation of “my brain on project overload.”

The words of Blake brought me back to Martha Stewart, and my goal to learn something new every day. Boy… did that go in one ear and out the other. Ha!

Anyway, according to several sources, the meaning can be simplified to this: First, learn; then share what you have learned; then… finally… reap the rewards and chill. Something like that.

That sounded like excellent advice. I have so many things in the works, and I’m so eager to share it ALL.. but I haven’t had enough seed time in any of these new areas yet. I can’t really share what I haven’t learned! So, I’m kind of in an awkward winter – and I need to chill.

I’ll be working on learning something new every day, and my downsizing, upcycling, minimalist goals (however moderate they may be) but for now I’ll just share a few simple things – like my image.

Speaking of that, I was focusing on a little duality here. A peaceful, minimalistic tree… battered by a bitter cold wind. Maybe it’s about perseverance. When in doubt, be strong and keep going.

Anyway, it was fun to make. I made the tree in Illustrator and moved it to Photoshop for some effects and clouds. I like it!

I guess that’s about all for now. Thank you for viewing / reading… I hope you enjoyed something here!

“Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after the other.” -Walter Elliot
