Megalomaniac. That’s Ingrid for you. She always has to be in control.
It’s gotten worse since Yvonne disappeared. Some of us call her Ingrid “Holmes” Meister, because she thinks she’s “Sherlock” or something.
We’re all worried about Yvonne, mind you, and we want to find her as much as everyone else, but wouldn’t it be better if we all worked together? Isn’t that what the Auxiliary Club is all about?
Ingrid and Yvonne weren’t even talking when she went missing. I bet Ingrid didn’t tell you that. Ernie the butcher overheard the two of them arguing the week before, out in the back alley behind the drycleaners.
Something about a dress that Yvonne borrowed, and the smell of smoke that wouldn’t come out of it. I can just hear Ingrid now, because she’s a real hoity-toity. A cigarette snob.
I’ll never forget the way that she looked at me when she caught me on a smoke break behind the department store. You’d think I had the plague.

If she and Yvonne were so upset with each other that they weren’t even talking, wouldn’t that make Ingrid a suspect as well? It makes sense that she’d want to control things… so she can steer the police in another direction.
Oh, hell. I don’t think Ingrid would hurt Yvonne. I’m just on edge. I’ve been trying to quit the ciggies since she made me feel so disgusting, and now I’m turning into a Class-A bitch.
I have my own suspicions, though – even though no one’s ever asked. Take Fred Johnson for instance. He’s an old perv. He sits at Parnell Park every day, acting like he’s running for Mayor. He’s been doing that for years now.

Everyone lets him be, because he’s ‘not really right upstairs’, but I think he knows exactly what he’s doing… eyeballing the ladies as they walk by – that’s what he’s doing.
Fred’s been sweet on Yvonne since she was in her twenties. Jen’s daughter Fiona walks by him every day, and she told Jen that she saw Yvonne talking with him a couple of days before she went missing.
Has anyone questioned him? Just sayin’.
TO BE CONTINUED
Poor Fred. I think he’s harmless, but until the case is solved – everyone’s a suspect.
The story is getting out of control because the illustrations are taking the lead and I’m having to write words to match the pictures rather than creating images to match the words.
I’ll have to fix that or this short story might never go anywhere.
Anyway, that’s all for now. Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed!
