I am killing time here, very close to the last parts of my story still… but I need to get away from it sometimes because I get sick of typing – deleting – typing – deleting. haha! Why are endings so hard??

Anyway, I’ve been messing around a lot with the photo apps on my phone because I’ve realized that I simply enjoy it. It’s kind of weird, because I spend a lot of time smoothing lines, thinking about color… and so on… and then when I take the image to one of the crazy apps, everything changes.

This particular one was fun because I had already done the couple dancing. It’s one of the many that I had done in black, white and red, so it was very modern looking.

I actually changed the colors and then used various forms of transparency such as ‘soft light’ and ‘multiply.’ I used a crumpled brown paper background, one that I had on file.

I chose earth tones for the coloring, because I wanted it to be very different from the previous version, and I wanted it to be kind of simplistic and natural looking.

Once I gave it effects in the app, the crumpled paper marks that showed through the various transparencies came through and so it looks much more textured, and I think that the way the creases flow across the background adds to the idea of movement.

I thought I’d share my original so you can see how drastic the changes are from my version to the crazy iPhone app version.

Now you can see why I have so much fun with the apps! I like my original just fine, but it’s definitely not as interesting as the new improved version. What I’d love to look into is how to do what I’ve done with my original but make the colors bleed into the paper… if I find a way – you’ll hear about it.

And I thought the Gene Kelly quote was perfect.
