The Blow Out

In my previous post, I mentioned that I needed to share my thoughts before I “exploded.” As I was writing that, what rippled through my mind was something like… “hmmm, I wonder what that would look like.”

I’m not really into grotesque images, like the more literal image of a person blowing up, so I thought I’d use color and shapes to convey excitement.

It’s funny, because I’ve been thinking lately that I’d like my images to be a little less childlike or ‘cartoonish’, but the bright colors that I’ve chosen for this one certainly haven’t helped my cause.

Then I went looking for a quote about explosions of color, and somehow the search landed on the following:

“It’s never too late to have a happy childhood.”
– Tom Robbins

I thought that was a great thought that kind of connects to everything – the cartoonish colors, the excited or giddy woman, as well as the things I’m learning about our internal parts in IFS, because oftentimes the parts that cause us problems (addiction, self-sabotage, etc.) are parts that came on board in the midst of trauma – and they usually remain at the age they were when that trauma occurred.

That being said, I imagine that this woman may be expressing how she felt when she was able to unburden one of her parts. Ha! Yes! I think she does look happy and free.

Anyway, as much as I love my studies, I find that whenever it’s time to read my text… I want to be doing something else – like this. I suppose it’s one of my more defiant parts acting out!

That’s about all for now. Thanks for reading or checking out my illustration… I hope you enjoyed something here!
