Happy New Year! Better late than never I suppose. I hope that you had a wonderful holiday, and that 2024 is off to a great start for you!
I’ve thought about many projects and post ideas, but something was always getting in my way (myself, of course). That being said, this post is a real hodgepodge of thoughts.
First of all, I’ve been having trouble with art and illustration. I’m constantly hitting snags, and nothing has been easy for me. The part about nothing being easy for me led me to two things; my word for 2024, and tonight’s image.
The word that I’ve zeroed in on this year is… PATIENCE. To start my focus on the word, I pulled up the following definitions:
- The capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset.
- An ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay.
- A person’s ability to wait something out or endure something tedious, without getting riled up.
I know I’ve talked about this before, so it may sound redundant, but I often ask myself why I can never settle on one thing – like writing, art/illustration, or even photography. To add to that, I’ve been sewing (purses and bags) like a fiend lately.
When I came upon the word patience, I realized that I LOVE to start new hobbies, projects, stories, and so on… but what I DO NOT love is spending time on things if they become difficult. If something is no longer easy, I LOSE PATIENCE.
Of course, I lose patience in many more ways than that, but that was the thought that I went with for now – for my blog anyway. So, if any resolution comes from my word of the year, I hope that I find more patience – that I learn the ability to stick with something until it is complete, and not get riled up when it is not quick and easy.
I’ve been testing that idea with my sewing, but I don’t want to get into that at the moment. Mainly, I wanted to get back to posting now and then, and to sharing images, short stories, and so on.
So, I thought I’d start with the image: Day Trippin’. It’s an old illustration that I’ve revamped by making a small change to the background, to add a little 1960’s or 1970’s flair. I thought that, for now, it might be fun to overhaul some of the old images I’ve posted in years past, just to get me going again.
Lastly, I know that resolutions are practically taboo anymore… but ONE that I’ve made to myself – for blogging purposes – is to stop starting LONG projects (or even talking about them).
That being said, I hope to revisit my 2024 word every month, and update you on my thoughts about it, but – in an effort to stick with my resolution -I’m not going to tell you that. Haha!
Lord, grant me patience…
but please HURRY!
Thank you for reading… I hope you enjoyed my thoughts or my image (or both!)
Until next time,
Peace & Love!
