I’m back for Day 3 of my “Write Something New Every Day” series. No poem tonight. I thought I would spend a little more time on imagery instead.

I went a little crazy with color and I seriously had no idea what to make of this piece until I stopped to look at it for a few minutes. I realized that this boy looks like he is digging for something. It reminded me of myself, and my constant searches for treasure—rainbows, silver linings, or maybe even gold.

I see how these searches can lead to problems. For one, if you look at this boy… he has his head down, looking at where he is digging. He is missing out on all of the bright and wonderful colors that are dancing around him. He’s not paying attention to anything but his digging! He’s so busy looking for what he can’t find, that he doesn’t see what he has.

Anyway, I’m doing better today. I turned in my paper and it felt as though the weight of the world was lifted from my shoulders. A little exaggeration there, but I did do a little happy dance… so today was a beautiful day. There’s still more to do, but that was the heavy item so the rest should be a breeze.

That’s about all for now. It’s freezing here again and it’s time to bury myself in the covers.

Until next time…

Peace & Love!!

No gold-digging for me; I take diamonds! We may be off the gold standard someday.

  1. It’s so interesting what you’re doing with writing something new every day. I too try to do that, to keep my writing muscles supple, but it’s not exactly the easiest habit to maintain. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Congratulations on crossing the finish line on the paper and staying true to your current endeavor. Your comment on the imagery about his perception being limited by his focus reminded me of what a Tai Chi teacher once suggested to me. keep your vision equally on the horizon to keep the heavens and the earth in equanimity

  3. Another great post, Janet! Yep, where we are looking/focusing is usually the key. Today as I was tempted yet again to bemoan the fact that my view of the western sky has been snatched away, leaving me looking out at a solid wall of plyboard–I shifted my cataract-dim eyes just a bit southwest of the “bleep-bleep” townhouses in progress, and saw that God had painted a blue sky with soft sunlight “just for me”. Am I grateful for a ‘few-inches/corner’ of Heaven? Heart kneeling, I sure am–color me smiling πŸ™‚ I’m so glad you could do the happy dance, having finished your paper–Life is Good! Love you ❀

    1. Love you too and glad you were able to see that!! Which reminds me it has been too long since I’ve been outdoors with the exception of walking from car to store lol. I am so ready to start walking once school ends next week! 😘❀

    2. It’s a good thing I have to walk to Safeway for groceries a few times per month–and also good that I live on the 2nd floor. So I do get in a little walking…and puffing on the stairs πŸ™‚ Laundry also requires walking up and down and across parking lot…twice a month πŸ™‚ My ‘over-weight’ is holding steady, which is no small miracle πŸ™‚ Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as you finish up school and walk off lingering stresses ❀ Catch you on the flip side! πŸ™‚
