Having a Vision

Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare.

Japanese proverb

My new laptop is working great, but the screen is VERY small. My little old eyes (that need cheater glasses) were not too thrilled with the size. So… I decided to get creative, and I’m using an old television as a monitor, and it is REALLY big. Boy do I have vision NOW. Ha! I’m exaggerating, I must confess, but it’s larger than any of my laptops have ever been. I was really able to zoom in and see some of the tiny details in my flower tonight.

I guess that’s what having a vision is all about; being able to see, or at least imagine, what it is that you’re working on, or going after. I think the first half of my life was a whole lot of action without vision. Like the hamster on the wheel, or a dog chasing its tail… just thoughtless, repetitive motion. And boy what a nightmare it became!

Sobriety was a gift (thank you God!). It really opened up my eyes and gave me clarity. My vision about the future can be clouded sometimes, and I definitely daydream, but I can see my feet, and the path that they are on, VERY clearly. And all I can say is… Oh, what a beautiful road it is!

The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.

Well said! I really identify with the all action no vision. Life can really pass by quickly when we’re not intentional about appreciating it. Glad we’re in the place we’re in now! 💕

First, I LOVE the photo–glorious!! 2nd, I LOVE the Japanese proverb–amazing and true. 3rd–I’m glad you’re enjoying your new laptop, yaaayyy!! I tried getting a larger laptop…but my poor eyes just laughed at me, as it’s not anywhere near huge enough. I’ve considered hooking up to my flat screen TV…but that means no TV or music on while I do my blog and email things…life is never perfect, eh? MUCH LOVE to you this week, dear Sister!!!! God bless you Hugely ❤

Thank you Z! Yes my eyes seem to act much older than I do haha. Denial, denial. I just found the proverb today and I think it’s so good too! Much love to you too my dear! 😘❤

Haha, love it: our eyes act older than we do–YEP! 🙂 I have cataracts now–and someone told me it’s from all those years of lying in the sun, getting tan, with no protection on my eyes. Well, it’s not like my eyes were open!! Whatever…I’m undecided whether or not I regret all those gorgeous tans! 🙂

Ha-Ha, well I DO. Not because of my eyes but because I am pretty fair and now I’m spotted, freckled, bumped, you name it. But, I still enjoy sitting in the sun some days so I guess that’s just the price we pay for good old vitamin D!

Truly we do need Vit D…unfortunately I don’t have anywhere to sit out and enjoy the sun…I take mine in pill form–when I remember, hah! Now that you mention skin being “fair”, I’m astounded that I seem to have “faded” with age! I used to have a lovely olive complexion, nearly black hair and dark eyes. My skin is pale, my eyes are pale…and good grief, my slightly-graying hair is falling out in bunches, yikes!!

I’m thinking, next stop wig…not a happy thought, but it might be okay for the few times I’m “out”. At home, nobody sees me but Mr Perfect-Invisible ❤ 🙂
