Abstract Art Exhibit

The Exhibit

Let the fire inside you burn.

I’m having a fun time with this new series. The possibilities are endless, and I think of new things every day. I’ve recycled some older pieces for today’s Everything Red. The red abstract is from many moons ago, and the shadowy aesthete is my youngest son—posing in a photo I took over a decade ago, at an art museum.

Rescue Abstract Art

Rescue 27

Sometimes a dramatic rescue is a simple act of showing up.

This piece is all about Gil. I think of him when I see red, especially if it’s an emergency vehicle. He’s the kind of person that just shows up. I’m extremely grateful for his friendship, ear, wisdom, and his extraordinary ability to point people in the right direction— Up.

I took some photos a few years back, when my friend and I visited him at the Station. I wanted to create something bold and exciting… something to represent the “constant motion” that is everything Gil.

So…this one’s for you my friend.

This image is actually one of my favorites in the Everything Red series so far. It’s kind of an abstract, faceless portrait.

Anyway, I thought I’d wrap it up with these 7 Points from one of his favorite people.

-Be true to yourself.
-Help others.
-Make each day your masterpiece.
-Drink deeply from good books, especially the Bible.
-Make friendship a fine art.
-Build a shelter against a rainy day.
-Pray for guidance and count and give thanks for your blessings everyday.

Strawberry

Sweet & Sour

To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art.

François de la Rochefoucauld

It’s National Strawberry Day here in the States! I accidentally stumbled on this fact last night, so I searched the garden high and low this morning for a celebratory fruit. And here we have it… one beautiful RED strawberry, ripening on the vine.

I probably don’t eat strawberries as often as I should—or could. But since I’m gearing up for my “Healthy Lifestyle, Healthy New Me” launch in March, it’s the perfect time to pay tribute to these sweet (and sometimes sour) babies.

Strawberries are a delicious, healthy replacement for the processed sugar that I love so much, so I’ll be seeing more of them soon! Besides being a great source of fiber and vitamin C, strawberries offer many additional benefits. Here are a few that I found.

Health & Wellness Benefits

  • Boost immune system
  • Regulate blood pressure
  • Protect against cancer
  • Promote healthy eyesight
  • Promote skin vitality
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Fight bad cholesterol
  • Treat symptoms of arthritis
  • Help regulate mood
  • Reduce risk of stroke
  • Make for a delicious smoothie!

So that’s that. Day #3 of Everything Red: Strawberries

Thank you for reading, I hope you found some enjoyment here!
