Eye of the Beholder

Beneath plump white down

Luscious colors light my world

Through bewitching eyes

Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge: Plump & Luscious

Fandango’s One Word Challenge: Bewitching

I didn’t forget about the garden art, I just got distracted! We have three cucumbers now, ripe and ready to go. I’m thinking about soaking one in vinegar today. Yum.

Anyway, the featured image is another portrait I’ve done; one of the gulls from the beach last week. I’m experimenting with these bird close-ups, and hope to work on something called “Feather Art” soon.

While working on the Haiku, I wondered if these birds see the world in grays. It was interesting to learn that they not only see colors, they see colors that can’t be seen by the human eye. The sky is actually violet to them. That is so cool! I’ll be sure to use that in a future portrait.

Thank you for reading… I hope your day is full of vibrancy and color!

A closer look at a bird that’s often overlooked or disparaged. Very pretty close up and interesting to learn about the colors they can see.

Thank you. I love gulls and yes, thought that was a cool fact and something I wouldn’t have known if I wasn’t writing that Haiku lol. Live and learn!

Oh WOW–love your haiku, and the added info about what the bird can see…a violet sky, how romantic!

A gorgeous close-up and a wonderful take on the prompt! How interesting that seagulls can see colours we can’t see.
