Glass Half Full

Yes, my glass is always half full (non-alcoholic beverages, of course). And, as my sponsor says… it is also refillable. 🙂

I’m experimenting with glass over images and this is my first test run. The trees were shot at the old zoo today, and in reading a tutorial last night I was led to Image*After, which is where I found the glass.

So far I’m sticking with the featured image idea and today my focus is on holding fast to my optimistic outlook. Every day I catch these little thoughts trying to creep in and stir up waves of discouragement, but I think last night I nailed down what the problem has been. Too much solitude.

I don’t want to call it isolation, because I’m enjoying it too much (is that wrong?!). But what I’ve noticed is that the more time I spend alone, even if I’m loving it, the more irritable I become. And the more irritable I get, the more the door opens up to negative thinking. It’s so weird how things like that really DO grow.

As a man thinketh… and all that stuff.

So I’ll be working on that. More fellowship = less negative thinking.

11 days and counting!

Like it a lot, the tree textures and the green color transmit tranquility. Have a good night, Janet!

Oh the solitude thingy…it is puzzling when we actually enjoy it 🙂

Thanks! And I know, huh? I’ve always liked having plenty of alone time, but I guess the key is not to have toooo much.

So true! I can read about positive thinking, manifesting, etc., until I am blue in the face, but then I forget to monitor my thoughts. They will often start to gravitate toward the past, usually not in a good way. I try to immediately switch to thoughts of gratitude.
    Thanks for the reminder.
By the way, when will we see your photo exhibit?

I like it! Could be a big yellow sun rising or setting! Te solitude…for me, it is a rec flag of my depression…as it is, I spend very little time with other people, so I do monitor how much time is spent alone. I like the way one of my favorite bloggers put it ” protecting my recovery ” ! I really like it because for anyone in recovery, every second should be protected!

Wauw….. and here I am thinking that my problem is not enough solitude. My mind really isn’t in a good place right now. But the thought of being out and around people gives me shivers.

Goodmorning Janet!! I came to your blog to tell you that my glass is almost full today 🙂 I think writing about the darkness is helping. And of course your optimism is too 🙂 I truly enjoy coming to your blog to see what you have been up to! You remind me to stay close to God.
